A&W Honoured as 5-Time Recipient of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Award

A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. has successfully requalified as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies in a prestigious program sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post, and Queen’s School of Business. This marks the fifth consecutive year in which A&W has achieved this status.

A&W’s President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Hollands states, “This award recognizes superb business results and, more significantly, A&W’s outstanding processes and business practices. Being recognized as ‘Best Managed’ reflects not only the accomplishments of A&W Food Services, but also the performance of the whole business including all 670 of our restaurants and the over 18,000 people who work at A&W. We are honoured to be a member of such a small and elite group of outstanding Canadian companies.”

Paul Hollands points out that achieving award requalification is a testament to several great strengths of the A&W business including the development and extension of a powerful Climate throughout the organization, commitment to strategy and continual renewal and growth of the business, and A&W’s commitment to building the brand and delighting customers. In addition, A&W has a proven track record of success, with results outpacing major competitors.

A&W requalified in 2006 for the Best Managed designation by successfully meeting stringent operational and financial review requirements. “Achieving the highest level of business performance over the long-term is only possible when organizations embrace a culture of aligning every activity and resource with building value for their stakeholders,” said Deloitte Partner with the Private Company Services Group, and National Leader of the Best Managed program, John Hughes. “All companies strive for business success; what distinguishes Requalified members is their ability to sustain that success.”
